The following is a summary of the major points of Alarm Ordinance # 935. Please read before submitting the Alarm Permit Application.
1. All alarm systems shall be installed in accordance with all applicable standards and requirements of the building code and applicable established standards as required by City Code.
2. It is a misdemeanor for any person to install, possess, operate, use, service, or maintain any alarm system without a valid permit. In addition, permits are nontransferable.
3. Permits may be denied on the following grounds:
- The alarm system is deficient.
- The applicant or applicant's agent has knowingly made any false, misleading, or fraudulent statements of material fact.
- The applicant has had a similar type of permit previously revoked. Violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.
4. Permits issued pursuant to this division shall be renewed annually.
5. Any change in business ownership shall require a new permit.
6. Permits shall be posted on the premises in a conspicuous location.
7. The permittee shall be responsible for any service, test, repair, maintenance, adjustment or installation which might actuate a false alarm on a particular alarm system.
8. All newly installed alarms or all reactivated alarms that have been inactive, shall be granted a 30day grace period from the date of activation during which period responses to false alarms will not be subject to fine under this chapter.
9. Grounds for revocation are:
- Violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.
- Excessive false alarms as defined by established regulations.
- Any false, misleading, or fraudulent statement of material fact
